About Us

The Australian Mungbean Association (AMA) is the peak national body representing all sectors of the mungbean industry in Australia. Our members include plant breeders, research agronomists, grain traders, seed graders and packers, and crop consultants. The AMA collaborates closely with representatives from a range of government agencies and private sector enterprises.

The Association was formed in 1986 and has been instrumental in developing, expanding and promoting the mungbean industry.

Through the dedicated efforts of our members the AMA has a strong focus on ensuring:

  • Food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at a high level across the mungbean industry
  • Quality assurance systems and procedures are adopted that improve traceability of our product and build market confidence in the reliability and consistency of Australian mungbeans
  • A close relationship with our breeding partners to develop and promote superior mungbean varieties that will achieve higher returns for the entire supply chain while also meeting overseas consumer demand
  • Mungbean producers and their advisors have ready access to the best available production, marketing and industry information
